How we put this together: We read each vendor's official pricing and feature pages on 8 October 2026 and compared the speech types each tool covers, how it gets your material, whether it writes or rehearses, and what it costs. We haven't run paid subscriptions of these tools for this article. Prices are in USD as shown on that date, except where a site showed another currency (noted in the price field).

Most people searching for an AI speech writer have a date on the calendar: a wedding toast, a best-man speech, a keynote, a retirement send-off or a school presentation. They want a draft that doesn’t sound like a template, and they want it quickly.

Two different jobs get sold under similar names, and this guide keeps them apart:

  • Writes the speech. You give it the occasion, your stories and the length, and it drafts.
  • Helps you rehearse it. You say the speech out loud, and it gives feedback on pace, filler words and clarity. It doesn’t write anything.

One caution applies to every tool here. AI doesn’t know your stories. A wedding speech built from generic material reads as generic. The best drafts come from you supplying real names, details and anecdotes, then editing until you’d happily say every line out loud. Check any fact about a person before you say it to a room.

The tools

Tools 1 to 5 write the speech. Tools 6 to 8 help you rehearse it.

1. Claude or ChatGPT: the all-round drafter, if you bring the material

Give the chatbot the occasion, audience, length, tone and your stories. Ask for an outline first, then a draft, then revise line by line, including cutting it to fit a time slot. It works for business, keynote, school and wedding speeches alike. Claude has a free plan, and Claude Pro is $17/month billed annually ($200 upfront) or $20 monthly. ChatGPT has a free plan, and ChatGPT Plus is $20/month.

The limit is structure. There’s no speech-specific questionnaire, so quality depends on the details you type in. For how the two differ, see Claude vs ChatGPT for writing.

2. SpeechGeneratorAI: a free first draft for almost any speech type

You enter a topic, pick a speech type and tone, and add details. The list of types is long, including best man, maid of honor, father of the bride, graduation, keynote, board meeting presentation, eulogy, retirement and investor pitch. The free plan allows 50 speeches a month with no credit card, using a basic AI model and generic styling, according to its pricing page. Premium adds unlimited speeches, an advanced model, longer speeches and no ads. The page showed Premium at NT$300/month when read from Taiwan, so we couldn’t confirm a USD price.

It’s a one-shot form, so expect to add the personal detail yourself.

3. HyperWrite AI Speech Writer: outline in, speech out

You enter a topic plus an outline, key points, sources or goals, and it drafts. HyperWrite lists keynotes, persuasive and informative speeches, award acceptances and celebration speeches as uses. Free use is limited. For more, Premium is $19.99/month ($16/month billed annually, with 250 AI messages a month) and Ultra is $44.99/month.

It’s a general writing platform with a speech tool inside it, not a speech specialist.

4. ToastWiz: wedding toasts from your stories

You complete a guided questionnaire about the couple and your memories, and it generates four drafts to choose from and edit. It’s $39.90 for the four drafts, and its FAQ promises a 100% money-back guarantee. It covers best man, maid of honor, parents, siblings and friends, and says typical speeches run 350 to 600 words.

It’s wedding-only and paid each time, with no free tier.

5. SpeechyAI: wedding and celebration speeches from a long questionnaire

SpeechyAI asks 40 to 50 questions (it says plan 45 to 60 minutes, and you can save and return), then produces three speeches in about three minutes, plus delivery tips by email. Drafts run 700 to 1,000 words, and you can download them to Word. It’s £49 on the page we read, which has a currency selector. Speechy also lists celebration and eulogy speeches, and says its team can’t see what you enter.

The time commitment is the trade-off, and there’s no free tier.

The next three tools don’t write anything. They listen to you deliver the speech and give feedback.

6. Yoodli: rehearse out loud with AI feedback

Yoodli is built around AI roleplay for training teams, and its individual plans are pitched at interview prep, public speaking and communication coaching. Starter is free with five lifetime sessions. Pro is $8/month billed annually, with up to 10 roleplays a week, live AI roleplays and feedback on uploaded recordings. Advanced is $20/month billed annually, with unlimited roleplays and your data excluded from AI training. Any session over 30 seconds counts as a roleplay.

Check the privacy line before rehearsing something personal: Yoodli’s FAQ says session data on Starter and Pro may be used to improve the platform. We couldn’t read monthly-billing prices.

7. Orai: short daily practice on your phone

Orai scores filler words, pace, clarity and energy right after you speak, in short practice sessions on iOS, Android and web. Orai Pro has a 7-day free trial (card required), then $12/month billed monthly or $49.99/year. There’s also a $149 one-time lifetime option.

It coaches delivery, not content, and its pricing page lists a trial rather than a free plan.

8. PowerPoint Speaker Coach: free rehearsal if your speech has slides

Speaker Coach is built into PowerPoint on the web, desktop and mobile. Microsoft says it evaluates pacing, pitch, filler words, informal speech, euphemisms and culturally sensitive terms, and detects when you’re reading slides. You get a report after each rehearsal. Microsoft says you can open and edit a presentation free in PowerPoint for the web with a Microsoft account.

It’s English only, built around slides, and the report disappears when you close it, so screenshot it. Microsoft says your speech audio is sent to Microsoft to provide the feature.

Not on the list: Poised. Its homepage says it’s shutting down on 8 October 2026.

How to choose

  1. Match the tool to the occasion. For a wedding, ToastWiz and SpeechyAI ask for stories, which is the hard part. For a business talk, keynote or school speech, a chatbot or HyperWrite works from your outline.
  2. Gather your material first. Write down the names, two or three real stories and the one point you want people to remember. No tool can invent true ones, and that’s what makes a speech sound like you.
  3. Set the length by time, not words. Give the tool your slot, then read the draft aloud with a timer and cut. The vendors’ own words-per-minute ranges differ.
  4. Edit, then rehearse with feedback. Once the draft sounds like you, run it through Yoodli, Orai or Speaker Coach. Delivery problems, like rushing or filler words, only show up when you say it.
  5. Check where your stories go. Personal anecdotes are sensitive. Read each tool’s data terms, and note that Yoodli’s Starter and Pro plans may use session data to improve the platform.

If you want an AI to draft in your own voice on an ongoing basis rather than for one event, see our guide to AI ghostwriters.

FAQ

Is there a free AI speech writer?
Yes. On 8 October 2026, SpeechGeneratorAI's pricing page listed a free plan of 50 speeches a month with no credit card, using a basic AI model and generic styling. HyperWrite offers limited free use of its speech writer, and Claude and ChatGPT both have free plans. Free tiers give you a first draft, not a finished speech.
How much does a wedding speech tool cost?
ToastWiz was $39.90 for four drafts, with a money-back guarantee on its FAQ. SpeechyAI was £49, with three drafts and delivery tips by email. Both ask you questions about the couple first. SpeechyAI says that takes 40 to 50 questions and about 45 to 60 minutes.
How long should an AI-written speech be?
Tell the tool your time slot, then time yourself reading it aloud. For reference, SpeechyAI says its drafts run 700 to 1,000 words for a 5 to 8 minute speech, and ToastWiz says typical speeches are 350 to 600 words for 3 to 5 minutes. Those are the vendors' own ranges, so your pace is the real test.
What happened to Poised, the speech coaching app?
Poised's homepage says it is shutting down on 8 October 2026. For rehearsal feedback, Yoodli, Orai and PowerPoint's Speaker Coach were all live when we read their pages.
