How we review software
Ordering
- Products we own are listed first. They carry a "We own this" label and an ownership disclosure at the top of the page.
- Everything else is ordered by fit for the use case the article is about, using the criteria below.
- No paid placements. We don't currently accept payment for rankings. If that ever changes, paid placements will be labelled as sponsored.
Criteria
- Fit for the job: does the tool do the specific thing the reader searched for, and for whom?
- Coverage: features, channels or engines covered, and limits by plan.
- Pricing transparency: public pricing, entry price, what each tier actually includes, and trial or free options.
- Evidence: documentation, demos, changelogs and reputable public reviews.
- Practicality: setup effort, integrations, exports and API access.
Sources and what we check
Every review states its method near the top. Typically we read each vendor's official pricing page and documentation on a stated date, and note demos and public reviews. Hands-on use is claimed only when someone on the team actually used the product. Prices are shown with the date we checked them.
Updates
We re-check pricing and features at least every six months, and sooner when a vendor changes plans. The "Updated" date on each article reflects the last check.
