Troveo Review 2026: How It Licenses Company Data to AI Labs
Troveo's business data program: which systems it takes, its export-based process, pseudonymization, revenue share and exclusivity, checked October 21, 2026
Troveo licenses company data (chat, email, docs, project tools, CRM, IT, HR and ops tickets, finance records, warehouses and code) to AI labs for the seller. It works from exports your team runs, with no OAuth or integrations, and says it pseudonymizes names, contact details, credentials and client identities to “one documented standard.” Full-company deals “start at six figures.”

Troveo began as a video licensing marketplace for creators, backed by Reddit and Zynga founders (The Hollywood Reporter), and raised a $4.5M seed round (FinSMEs, November 2024). Its homepage now covers business, video, audio, gaming, text and robotics data, and shows counters of “350+ Company Datasets” and “8M+ hours” of video, which we couldn’t verify. Search interest is split: many “Troveo login” and “Troveo sign up” searches come from creators, not companies. For other company data buyers, see companies that buy business data for AI.
What Troveo takes
Troveo’s business data page lists the systems it wants. It’s one of the broader lists in this market, and it includes HR tickets and finance records, which most ops teams will want to scope carefully.
| System or data type | Named by Troveo | What Troveo says is stripped |
|---|---|---|
| Chat and messaging | Yes | Names, contact details, credentials, client identities replaced with pseudonyms |
| Yes | Same standard | |
| Documents and files | Yes | Same standard |
| Project tools | Yes | Same standard |
| CRM | Yes | Same standard |
| IT, HR and ops tickets | Yes | Same standard; HR content handling not described further |
| Finance (“Ledgers, invoices, and contracts”) | Yes | Same standard; counterparty handling not described further |
| Data warehouses | Yes | Not published beyond the standard |
| Code repositories | Yes | Credentials scrubbed under the standard |
| Customer and product-usage data | Troveo calls it “frequently the least licensable” | Not applicable |
Troveo’s example shows a raw line with a client name and an email address turned into “PERSON-014” and “EMAIL-019.” That’s pseudonymization: the structure of the conversation survives, and the identifiers are replaced with consistent tokens.
How the data gets out of your systems
Troveo is export-based. It says the work for your team is “a short scoping call and a few hours on exports,” with no OAuth access and no integrations to install. That keeps Troveo out of your live systems, but it also means your team produces the raw files.
- Scope. A scoping call agrees what’s in and what’s out. An on-page estimator gives a “directional” number first.
- Export. Your team runs the exports from each system.
- Pseudonymize. Troveo anonymizes the data to its documented standard.
- License. Troveo licenses the data on terms you approve. Buyers are introduced confidentially only after an agreement is signed, and your company is never named publicly.
- Get paid per sale. You share in revenue on every sale; Troveo says “the first sale is the floor.”
Because your team exports and Troveo does the scrubbing, the raw export appears to reach Troveo before pseudonymization. Troveo’s pages we read don’t say where that processing runs or how raw files are stored and deleted afterwards. Ask both questions before the first export.
Privacy and security controls
These are Troveo’s own claims, read October 21, 2026.
| Control | What Troveo says | Ask for in writing |
|---|---|---|
| De-identification | Names, contact details, credentials and client identities scrubbed to “one documented standard” using pseudonyms | The standard itself, and a pseudonymized sample of your own data |
| Raw export handling | Not published | Where raw files are processed, who can access them and when they’re deleted |
| Company identity | “Your company is never named publicly” | How the company is described to buyers before signing |
| Buyer introductions | Confidential, only after an agreement is signed | A list of buyers per sale and any approval right |
| Ownership | “Ownership never transfers” | License scope per product and per buyer |
| Multiple products | One dataset turned into several products | Whether each new product or buyer needs your approval |
| Security certifications | Not published | A SOC 2 report or equivalent |
| Retention and deletion | Not published | Retention period, deletion certificate and the position on trained models |
| Sub-processors | Not published | A sub-processor list |
Commercial terms in brief
Read October 21, 2026, on Troveo’s business data page and value article.
| Term | What Troveo says |
|---|---|
| Stated pay | Full-company deals “start at six figures”; estimator is “directional” |
| Structure | Licensing with revenue share on every sale; “the first sale is the floor” |
| Payment timing | Not published; “Terms are stated plainly in your agreement” |
| Exclusivity | “Time-limited and it has to be earned,” with “clear exit terms” |
| Fee to seller | “Nothing. No fees, no setup costs, no deductions from your payouts.” Troveo is paid out of the sales it makes |
| Track record | More than $20 million paid to rights holders across all categories and more than 40 active buyers; business-data payouts not split out |
Business Wire carried Troveo’s April 28, 2026 announcement that it had expanded into five new categories and passed $20 million in payouts. Most historical payouts came from video licensing, so the $20 million figure doesn’t show what company data sellers have received.
What data you can and can’t license
Troveo’s system list includes HR tickets and contracts, so the boundary matters more here than with narrower programs. Troveo’s own view that customer and product-usage data is “frequently the least licensable” points the same way.
| Usually firm-owned and licensable once scrubbed | Usually not yours to license, or high risk |
|---|---|
| Internal chat about how work gets done, pseudonymized | Client Slack Connect channels and shared client workspaces |
| Your SOPs, templates, project boards and internal wikis | Client deliverables, client ad accounts and client ESP lists |
| Internal IT and ops tickets | HR tickets, performance reviews, compensation and health data |
| Your own code, where you hold the rights | Open-source code with its own license terms, and live credentials |
| Your own CRM pipeline process, contacts stripped | Contact-level CRM data, customer records and product-usage data |
General rules also apply. CCPA/CPRA has covered employee and B2B contact data since January 1, 2023, and GDPR covers EU and UK people.
NLRA Section 7 protects employee discussions of pay and conditions. Slack’s API terms (August 2025) bar bulk export and LLM training via the API, per Hunton, and Google Workspace API policies restrict training non-personalized models. Third-party licensed data and live credentials should come out before export (SimpleClosure, October 1, 2026).
Risks for the ops team
- Raw files leave first. In an export-based model, your team hands over files before pseudonymization. Limit the first export to an agreed sample.
- Many sales, many buyers. Revenue on every sale also means your data may reach several buyers over time. Ask how you’ll know who has it.
- Exclusivity. Troveo’s exclusivity is time-limited and “earned.” Epoch AI’s interviews (January 12, 2026) found exclusive deals for AI training environments priced at 4 to 5 times non-exclusive ones, so ask what the exclusive window pays.
- Payment timing. Not published; revenue share depends on sales happening.
- Deletion vs trained models. Deletion terms aren’t published, and deleting data doesn’t untrain models already built on it.
- Track record mix. The $20 million payout figure is mostly video, so it isn’t evidence of business-data volumes.
- Short deadlines. Business Insider (October 13, 2026) reported 48-hour “exploding offers” are common across this market; it didn’t attribute them to Troveo.
Pre-export checklist
- List each system in scope, with years of history and the export tool you’d use.
- Remove client workspaces, HR tickets, payroll and health data from the export plan.
- Scan code repositories and tickets for live credentials and third-party licensed material.
- Request Troveo’s documented pseudonymization standard before exporting anything.
- Export a limited sample first and review Troveo’s pseudonymized version of it.
- Agree in writing where raw exports are stored and when they’re deleted.
- Get the exclusivity window, exit terms and revenue-share payment schedule in the agreement.
- Ask for buyer-by-buyer notice or approval for each sale and each new product.

FAQ
- What is Troveo AI?
- Troveo started as a video licensing marketplace for creators and now licenses business, video, audio, gaming, text and robotics data to AI developers. For companies, it matches you with AI labs, anonymizes your data to a documented standard and licenses it on your behalf, sharing revenue on every sale. Ownership of the data never transfers, Troveo says.
- Is Troveo legit?
- Troveo raised a $4.5M seed round (FinSMEs, November 2024) and is backed by Reddit and Zynga founders (The Hollywood Reporter). It says it has paid more than $20 million to rights holders and works with more than 40 active buyers, but most payouts historically came from video, and it doesn't split out business-data payouts. We couldn't verify its homepage counters.
- How much funding has Troveo raised?
- FinSMEs reported in November 2024 that Troveo raised a $4.5M seed round. The Hollywood Reporter reported backing from Reddit and Zynga founders. We couldn't confirm any later funding from the sources we read on October 21, 2026.
- How do companies sign up with Troveo?
- Companies start from Troveo's business data page with a directional on-page estimate or a short scoping call. Troveo says the work is "a short scoping call and a few hours on exports," with no OAuth or integrations. The creator sign-up and login are for its video licensing side, which is a separate audience.
