Searching for a “ChatGPT rank tracker” usually means one question: when someone asks ChatGPT about my category, am I in the answer, and where? Rank trackers for ChatGPT answer it by running your prompts through ChatGPT on a schedule and recording what comes back.
One thing to settle first: ChatGPT doesn’t have rankings like Google’s. The same prompt can produce different answers on different runs, and results shift with personalization, location and model updates. Vendors say this themselves: Rankscale’s page notes that retrieval, personalization, region and model updates can change a response, and LLMrefs describes language models as non-deterministic. So a ChatGPT “rank” is a sampled measure. It’s useful as a trend across many prompts and many runs, and misleading as a single number.
For broader coverage across Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI answers, see the best AI visibility tools. Semrush and Ahrefs also track ChatGPT as one platform among several; those are covered there.
What “rank” means in ChatGPT
Tools report three different things under that word:
- Mention: your brand is named in the answer or it isn’t.
- Position: where your brand sits among the brands named, or where your URL sits among the sources cited.
- Citation: one of your pages is linked as a source.
Check which of these a tool reports before comparing prices.
The tools
1. SEOButler AI Visibility Check: free look at recorded answers
Enter a brand name, website and, optionally, a topic. SEOButler searches a large index of recorded ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews answers (US, English). It shows where your brand is named, which answers cite your website, and which other brands and sources appear for the topic. You can open the answers behind each number.
To be plain about it: this isn’t a live tracker. It searches previously recorded answers rather than asking ChatGPT fresh questions, so it gives you no rank over time, and a zero means no matching records, not that ChatGPT never mentions you. No email is needed; verifying one gives a shareable, unbranded report and three brand checks a month.

2. Pace Generative: tracking plus the work
Pace Generative is a done-for-you generative engine optimization (GEO) service rather than a self-serve tool. It tracks visibility across the major AI engines, then does the work meant to change it: content written to be cited in AI answers, plus schema markup. Reporting covers citations, share of voice and competitor comparisons.
It’s sold as monthly packages, with pricing on request. It suits businesses that want to get into ChatGPT answers without running a tracker themselves.

3. Rankability ChatGPT Rank Tracker: position among cited sources
Rankability’s Starter plan is $97/month for 100 tracked AI queries, with unlimited team members. It says it sends your keywords to ChatGPT with live web search enabled, on a daily, weekly or custom schedule. Each scan records mentions, citations, your position among cited sources, up to 25 brands named in the answer, and a snippet of the response, plus volatility alerts when the cited sources shift. It also covers Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Gemini. No trial is mentioned on the page.
4. ProRankTracker: rank tracking with ChatGPT added
Starter is $99/month for 500 prompts, refreshed daily, across six AI platforms including ChatGPT. It reports mentions and links separately and shows how your URL ranks against the other sources cited in the same answer. Count carefully: the same prompt on several platforms counts as separate prompts. A free trial gives 50 prompts for 7 days. It also tracks Google rankings in the same account.
5. Peec AI: daily tracking for teams
Starter is $95/month ($80 billed annually) for 50 prompts tracked daily on three of six models you choose, ChatGPT among them, with unlimited users. Peec’s page lists visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice against competitors, plus source analytics. Prices rise quickly with prompts: Pro is $245/month for 150. See our Peec AI alternatives if the price is the issue.
6. Otterly.AI: cheapest daily tracking
Lite is $29/month ($25 billed annually) for 15 prompts tracked daily across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, plus ChatGPT Ads tracking. Otterly reports brand position and link citations. Fifteen prompts is small, and Standard ($189/month, 100 prompts) is a big step up.
7. LLMrefs: lowest price per prompt
One plan at $79/month, which the page labels a limited-time price: 500 prompts across the AI engines it supports, citation tracking, position and share of voice, unlimited team members, and CSV and API access. A 7-day trial is offered. The page describes weekly reports, so you get fewer data points per prompt than from a daily tracker. LLMrefs says it aggregates responses to deal with non-deterministic answers.
8. Rankscale: control over how often you sample
Pro is $99/month (1,200 credits, up to 4,800 answers) and a yearly-only Essentials plan starts at $17/month. You can schedule checks from hourly to monthly. Its ChatGPT page says it captures answer snapshots from ChatGPT and reports mentions, citations, answer placement and share of voice. More frequent checks give a better sample, but they also use credits faster. A 7-day Pro trial is offered.
9. Morningscore: ChatGPT tracking inside an SEO tool
From $69/month (10 prompts); Business is $99 for 100 prompts and Pro $159 for 500. Every plan includes Morningscore’s full SEO tool. Lookups run weekly, and the page says it uses a ChatGPT scraping provider (Cloros). It shows whether you appear in the answer text or the sources, with highlighted proof. It doesn’t state a position metric. A 14-day trial is offered.
10. ZipTie: pay per check
ZipTie charges about $0.01 per prompt, per engine, per check. Its starter configuration is from $42.75/month, which works out to roughly 50 daily prompts on three engines (calculated from the page’s per-check rate). Seats, projects and competitors are never billed, and API and MCP access is $10/month. Because cost scales with checks, it’s one of the easier tools to re-run often. A 7-day trial covers 25 daily prompts on ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Copilot.

How to choose
- Decide which “rank” you need. A yes/no mention, a position among cited sources, or an average position in the answer. The tools above report different ones.
- Prefer more runs. Because answers vary, daily or custom schedules (Rankability, Peec, Otterly, Rankscale, ZipTie) give a firmer picture than weekly ones (LLMrefs, Morningscore).
- Read trends, not single results. Track the same prompts for weeks, and watch the share of prompts where you appear rather than any one position.
- Ask how answers are collected. Rankability says it runs live web search; Morningscore says it uses a scraping provider; Rankscale says it captures snapshots from ChatGPT. Location settings matter for local searches.
- Check free first. Run the SEOButler check on past answers, then use a vendor trial before paying.
FAQ
- How does a ChatGPT rank tracker work?
- It runs a list of prompts through ChatGPT on a schedule, saves the answers, and records whether your brand is mentioned, where it sits among the brands or sources named, and which of your pages are cited. Because ChatGPT's answers vary between runs, the results are a sample, and trends are more reliable than any single check.
- Why does my ChatGPT result differ from what the tracker shows?
- ChatGPT answers can change with personalization and memory, location, model updates and the exact wording of the prompt. Rankscale says answers can vary because retrieval, personalization, region and model updates can change the response, and Otterly says manual results can differ from its monitoring for similar reasons.
- Is there a free ChatGPT rank tracker?
- The SEOButler AI Visibility Check is free, but it searches recorded ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews answers and isn't a live tracker. Live trackers with free trials on 8 October 2026 included ProRankTracker (50 prompts for 7 days), ZipTie (7 days), LLMrefs (7 days), Rankscale (7 days) and Morningscore (14 days).
- What's the cheapest ChatGPT rank tracker?
- On 8 October 2026, ZipTie's usage-based starter configuration was about $42.75/month, Otterly.AI Lite was $29/month ($25 annual) for 15 prompts, and Rankscale's yearly-only Essentials plan was $17/month. LLMrefs listed 500 prompts for $79/month with weekly reports, which is the lowest price per prompt of the tools here.
